Commissioned by the Hong Kong Arts Festival, this project is the first collective play of LIN Yuan Shang. Inspired by a traditional Chinese play part of the Peking Opera repertoire, this musical and choreographic creation aims at exploring the emotions that surround people in flight.

“If this theme awakens such echoes in us, that is because all of us are fleeing something”, LIN Yuan Shang notes. “For some of us, flight generates a complete upheaval of values, of habits. For others, it leads only to a deeper fall... but the most important is that it provokes an abrupt confrontation with our deep soul”.

From unison to soli, the dance shakes the bodies, lines are drawn, then they split and build obstacles. In the night of the flight, the recurrence of light movements, like hands’ flapping, eyes’ winks, intense looks, creates a fluid, brilliant dance, that involves the whole body. Each individual expresses his personality, enters in echoes with the other and reaches some autonomy... in an eternal search of freedom.
