A Spark of Eternity is based on Chinese Zen : Chan. For this duo, full of humour, choreographer LIN Yuan Shang uses Buddhism stories. He also recalls Chinese heroes’ mischievousness.

«Chan turns your mind upside down, it disrupts habits. It uses all sorts of methods without any reluctance : humour and laughter, provocation, brutality… But also fantasy, poetry, silence. And mystery.
All that invites me to create worlds I particularly feel like addressing to children : for them, it is just natural to go from surprise to silence, from tenderness to provocation. They are familiar with magic, and ready to enter new worlds, to love the characters and follow them into the unknown. That is a fascinating capacity.»

The two dancers play on sensations, on taste for game, on children’s play instinct that is often hidden but remains in every grown-up. «The way towards wisdom is not necessarily painful… There is always a way where intuition can emerge - and so flies out the spark.»
